Next week I have a meeting to discuss my 1-year career goals. This is how I'm preparing. Have you got any tips for me?

How I Figure Out My 1-Year Career Goals
At the company I work out, after 3-months you need to set performance goals with your manager. This allows you and your manager to talk openly about your future, potential career progression and what you want to do in your career.
(Even if your company does not have this policy in place, ask your manager if you can have this conversation. No job lasts forever, and we should all be thinking about what we want to do, the skills we need and if we need a bit of help to get there.)
I'v been at my job for about 3-months so to prepare for this conversation my manager suggested I think about:
What I like about my job
What I don't like
Where I see myself in a year
What do I want to do?
I love my job. Project managing seems like 1/3 of a research job, the good bits! Planning and delivering a project, while someone else does the analysis. And minimal 'write up'!
But then I get stuck. On Question 3.
What do I want to do in the future? What skills do I need? What do I focus on?
I have only been in project management for a few months. I'm not exactly sure where I want to go.
What can I do with project management? What skills should I focus on to be a better one?
Because I don't have the answers to this question, it feels like there are no wrong decisions....
What is your advice to me? What else should I do to prepare for my 1-year career goals? Tell me by leaving a comment below or emailing me at AuthenticResearchExperiences@gmail.com
